Connect Dialog
The Connect Dialog Box enables you to start an IRC session .
- Press "New" to create a new entry .
- Fill in the information in the blank boxes
- Press "store" , your options are saved
- Press "Connect" to connect
To connect to a server , you need to obtain the following
information
- The address and the port of the server . Some known
servers are already entered for you
- Your nick , a short non-space alphanumeric value to
identify yourself in the IRC network . Nicks must be
unique in the IRC server . For more information about
nicks , see the RFC1459 .
- Your e-mail address
- Your real name , or any other information . Any user can
get this info by using a /whois . See the RFC1459 and Usual IRC Commands .
- Your initial modes . These can be changed with /mode .

- Your extended options . If your server is an IRCX known
server , enable the IRCX button to use all IRCX features
.TurboIRC also enables you to login as an Operator . If you
really are a System Operator in the network , you will
know what to enter in the User and Password blanks
- Autoconnect on startup performs automatically a
connection to the server IF the appropriate button in Preferences is checked
- Auto reconnect on failure , automatically reconnects if
the server closes the link to you ( but not if you
manually shutdown the connection )
You may call the connect dialog box at any time using /connect
You may auto-connect to a temporary server , by using /server
